Finding Harmony in Parenting, Homeschooling, and Holistic Living
Hi, I’m Taylor, and I’m so glad you’re here! Let me introduce myself and share a little about my journey. I’m a mama navigating the beautiful chaos of raising kids while embracing homeschooling, holistic nutrition, and herbalism. These passions have shaped my family’s lifestyle and the way we approach each day, and I’m excited to share my story with you.
Parenting: The Heart of the Journey
Parenting is the foundation of everything I do. It’s an ever-evolving adventure filled with joy, challenges, and countless moments of growth—not just for my children, but for me as well. Along the way, I discovered that I could weave my interests in holistic living and education into our daily routines, creating a lifestyle that feels intentional and deeply connected.
Why Homeschooling?
Homeschooling was not always part of my plan, but it has become one of the most fulfilling decisions I’ve made. It offers the flexibility to tailor learning to my children’s unique interests and needs. My oldest is currently 3, so we are diving head first into pre-k. It is full of playdough experiments, toddler songs and lots and lots of dancing. But it’s not without its challenges. Juggling lesson planning with household responsibilities can be overwhelming, even in 20 minute increments, but I’ve found that creating a simple routine and embracing imperfection make all the difference. I mean, most lessons are done at our kitchen table during my 1 year old’s nap!
Holistic Nutrition: Feeding the Family with Intention
As a parent, I’m deeply invested in what goes into my family’s bodies. Holistic nutrition isn’t about rigid rules; it’s about nourishment, balance, and fostering a positive relationship with food. I began my “holistic journey” shortly after my son was born. We were just getting out of Covid life and I was suddenly very aware of the craziness that is our food system. It started small, with learning how to pick better ingredient’s, to taking a full on course to become a certified holistic nutritionist, to now trying to garden and grow our own fruits and veggies! In our home, meals are prepared with love and an emphasis on whole, unprocessed ingredients. One of our favorite family activities is cooking together—an educational and bonding experience that brings joy to our kitchen. And trust me, toddlers love to help so get them in there!
Embracing Herbalism in Everyday Life
Herbalism is an extension of holistic living, offering natural ways to support our health and wellness. I have taken countless herbal courses to become more acquainted with with “weeds” around us. I have found a love for herbal remedies, from brewing calming chamomile tea during stressful moments to making elderberry syrup for immune support. Herbs have become an integral part of our family’s routine. My son has a cough right now and every time he has a coughing fit he yells “mama, I need the elderberry!”.
Balancing It All
If you’re wondering how it all comes together, let me assure you: it’s a work in progress. Some days are smooth and uneventful, but most are messy and chaotic. The key is to approach each day with grace and flexibility. I’ve learned to let go of perfection and instead focus on what truly matters—connecting with my family, fostering a love of learning, and creating a home filled with love and laughter.
This blog is the beginning of my journey to share and connect with others who are on similar paths. Whether you’re a seasoned parent, a homeschooling enthusiast, a budding herbalist, or someone curious about holistic living, I hope this space becomes a source of inspiration, ideas, and community. Together, we can navigate this beautiful, messy adventure called life.
